Willis W. Hopper was the sixth-born child of Elias and Mary Jane (Swalloom) Hopper. Early years were spent in rural Linn Co., Iowa.
By 1887 he had made his way to South Dakota, where his father and several brothers had gone to homestead. Here he met and married Arminta Ingle. They had one child, Mary Blanche Hopper, born in June 1891. They were blessed with three grandchildren: Veta, Glenn, and Wilma DeSpain.
By 1920 they had relocated to Clark Co., Washington, living and farming in the Battle Ground area. Arminta passed away in 1938.
Willis lived on until 1955 when he passed away in Lane Co., Oregon.
