He was born June 14, 1915 in Braggadocio to the late William Ernest Cagle and Lottie Kirksey Cagle.
Cagle was united in marriage in 1936 to Miss Faye Dodd of Osceola, Ark., and May 21, 1945 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He received his Honorable Discharge July 18, 1946 at Ft. Sheridan, Ill. He was also in the trucking business and owned and operated a package store in Caruthersville for many years prior to his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one son.
He leaves two sons, Harold L. Cagle and wife, Betty, of Southaven, Miss., and J.W. Cagle, Jr. and wife, Jeanne of Caruthersville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Cagle, Jamie Ellen Cagle, and Jess Willard Cagle, III and wife Kelly, all of Caruthersville; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Cagle of Caruthersville; two brothers, Kenneth Cagle of Irwin, Penn., and Lonnie Cagle of Caruthersville; two sisters, Alberta Robertson of Qulin, Mo., and Catherine Hazel of Port Arthur, Texas; and a number of nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
The H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
