James Ernest Cagle, 74, died April 30, 1998 at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo. Born January 6, 1924, he was the son of the late William Ernest Cagle and Lottie M. Kirksey Cagle.
He attended the Braggadocio Schools. He was a Veteran having served his country in the United States Army. On November 13, 1952 in Piggott, Ark. he was united in marriage to Miss Frances Marie Neely. He was employed as a river boat pilot with the Corps of Engineers prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Cottonwood Point Methodist church. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, yard work and gardening.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ione Lemond.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Cagle of Caruthersville, Mo.; two sons, Kim Cagle and James E. Cagle Jr. both of Caruthersville, Mo.; three daughters, Sherry Fittes of Germantown, Tn., Iris Russom and Kelly Maners both of Caruthersville, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Aaron Lucius, Ronnie Fittes and Radley Fittes all of Germantown, Tn., Daniel Maners, Casey Maners, Trina Cagle, Corey Cagle all of Caruthersville, Mo. and Mark Fullerton of Braggadocio, Mo.; three great grandchildren, Jessica, Michelle and Cory Lucius of Germantown, Tn.; four brothers, Lonnie Cagle and Willard Cagle both of Caruthersville, Mo.; Kenneth Cagle of Irwin, Pa. and Gerald Cagle of Rockingham, N.C.; two sisters, Alberta Robinson of Qulin, Mo. and Kathryn Hazel of El Campo, Tx.
Services were held May 2, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Schreiner officiating. Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
