Aug 4, 1950 – Citizen of Culp Dies After Long Illness

George Edvan Martin aged 73, died at his home near Culp last Sunday, July 27. He had been in ill health for several months.

Mr Martin moved to Culp with his parents when he was about five year of age. He has spent most of the remaining years in that community.

He was baptized earlier in life. He was always ready to help those in need. The Culp community will keenly feel the loss of Mr Martin.

He was preceded in death by the wife of a former union and several children. The surviving of this marriage are two sons: Allen of Oroville, Calif., and Cicero of Essick, Mo.; and four daughters, Mrs Mettie Gilbert, Oroville, Calif., Mrs Retha Holliman, Harrison, Ark., Mrs Annie Flowers, Norfork, Ark., and Mrs Hattie White, Reed Springs, Mo. By his last marriage he is survived by his wife, Nellie and three daughters, Mrs Estalee Pinkston, Culp and Flora Dell and Dorothy Nell of the Home and by a step-daughter, Mrs Horace Green of near Mountain Home. He is also survived by three brothers, Lonnie, Mammoth Spring and Cicero and Joel of near Culp and two sisters, Mrs Donellar Hannah, Little Rock and Mrs Retha Rorie, Yuba City, Calif.

Services were in charge of Revs. Frank Horst and M. E. Bontreger. Arrangements were by Roller-Barber Funeral Service and burial was in Table Rock Cemetery.
