MRS. ISABELLE McKINSTRY
Widow of Thomas McKinstry died at her home near Ryde on Monday, March 19, at 2 a.m. A daughter of the late Joshua and Rebeca (James) Bard, she was born at Otelia, Huntingdon county, July 10, 1861. Her father was a Civil war veteran. Married Dec. 23, 1880 to Thomas McKinstry, they went to housekeeping on the McKinstry houmestead founded about 1785, where she lived the rest of her life. She is survived by four sons and one daughter: Charles H. of Wilmerding, D. James of Juniata, Jesse A. of Steubenville, O., Cecil J. of Ryde and Carrie L. at home. One son Roy T. McKinstry of Hollidaysburg preceded her in death. Surviving also are fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three grandson, Lt. Byron McKinstry of Ryde, Lt. Commander George McKinstry of Stubenville, O., and S/Sgt. Robert McKinstry of Juniata, serve their country overseas. Three sisters also survive: Miss Maggie Bard and Mrs. John Latherow of Wilmerding and Mrs. Martha Kenyon of Huntingdon. She was a devoted worker in the United Brethren in Christ church, whose building is also on ground, originally a part of the McKinstry farm.
