NELSON REYNOLDS
Nelson Reynolds, son of William Lafayette and Mary Bland Reynolds, was born in Bourbon county, Kans., Nov. 19, 1880, and passed away March 13, 1963, at the Lucas County Memorial hospital at the age of 82 years, three months and 22 days.
When a small child the family moved to Appanoose county where he grew to manhood. At the age of 18 years he came to Lucas county to live with his brother John.
On March 2, 1904, he was united in marriage to Harriett Elsie Myers and to this union five children were born. After marriage they started farming and seven years later purchased a farm in Benton township, where they lived for 33 years.
As his health began to fail, they moved to Chariton where they lived for 19 years. For the past two years he had suffered a great deal but bore it with much patience.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Gerald and Mary, who died in infancy; one grandson, Lawrence L. Johnson; a brother, Joe; three half-brothers and one half sister.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Harriett, one son, Leonard, of Chariton, two daughters, Leta Johnson, of Chariton and Edna Relph of Russell; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John of Chariton and Jim of Exline; a sister, Mrs. Ida Fenton, of Plano; and a half-sister, Della Way.
Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Miley Funeral Home with the Rev. John Orange officiating. Interment was in the Salem cemetery.
