Leona F. Howard, 91, of Findlay, IL., died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay. The Rev. Kevin Ray will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 22. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. Leona was born June 1, 1918, in Muskogee, OK., the daughter of George and Grace Breeden Fox.
She married Mordecia (Jay) Howard in 1952 in Reno, Nev., and he died May 1, 1988.
Leona was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. Her life was her family, and she especially loved being a daily part of the lives of her grandsons, Nicholas and Kevin.
Surviving are her son, Gary Howard and wife, Patty, of Findlay; daughters: Melissa Lane and husband, Kevin, of Strasburg, IL.; and Lucy Smith and husband, James, of Findlay; grandchildren: Nicholas Howard and Kevin Howard; brother, Ike Fox and wife, Billie, of Lancaster, CA.; sisters: Viola Bull of Lancaster; Thelma McCarthy of Lancaster; Christine Lance of Carson City, Nev.; and Luvina Wells of Bremington, WA.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; parents; brothers: Ellis Fox, Herman Fox and Odie Fox; sister, Marie Vissor; brothers-in-law: Al McCarthy and Jack Bull.∼A wonderful aunt to so many, a wonderful grandmother to Nicholas & Kevin, and a wonderful mother to Gary. Greatly loved and missed by all.
