Daryl Davis, age 72, a longtime resident of Lone Wolf, Kiowa County, Oklahoma, died Friday, November 25, 2005, at Elkview General Hospital, Hobart, Kiowa County, Oklahoma.

He was born October 8, 1933 to Fred and Floy Ellen Anderson Davis on the family farm southeast of Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.

Daryl graduated from Lone Wolf High School inn 1951 and attended Oklahoma A & M, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Agronomy. Daryl spent two years in the United States Army, being stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. He returned to OSU and received his master's degree in Agronomy.

Daryl was married to Nancy Stewart in Childers, Oklahoma, on September 5, 1959. Daryl and Nancy had three children: Roger, Randy and Risa. He was the assistant county agent in Nowata, Oklahoma for a brief period of time, returning to Lone Wolf in 1959. He was employed as Vice President of the First State Bank there where he worked for 20 years. Daryl was a farmer and a former elder and Sunday School teacher at the First Christian Church in Lone Wolf. He was a former Lone Wolf School Board member and a twenty-four year member of the Planters Cooperative. Daryl was also a member of the Cotton Growers Cooperative, the Soil Conservation Service Board and OSU alumni.

Daryl was an avid collector of John Deere toy tractors and memorabilia. He was always creating ways to modify his farming equipment to make it more efficient. He was also an excellent carpenter. Daryl loved to play cards and dominoes with his family and friends. His grandchildren were very special and enjoyed spending time with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Floy Davis, and one brother, Warren Davis.

He was survived by his wife, Nancy Davis, of the home in Lone Wolf; two sons, Roger Davis, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Randy Davis and his wife Liz, Hermitage, Tennessee; one daughter, Risa Rice and her husband Butch, Edmond, Oklahoma; seven sisters, Ellen Rock, Priest River, Idaho; Dorothy Thurman and husband R. H., Carnegie, Oklahoma; Norma Davis, Hobart, Oklahoma; Evelyn Whisenhunt and husband Floyd, Lincoln, Nebraska; Joyce Martin and husband, J. V.. Lockney, Texas; Cleta Chain, Hobart, Oklahoma; and Della Collins, Hobart, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 28, 2005 at 2:00 PM, at Lone Wolf High School Auditorium, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma with Matthew Barrie officiating.

Pall Bearers were Tim Wald, Ronnie Webber, Kenny Hahn, Lurman Helwer, Ron Magar, and Micky Reeves.

Burial was in Lone Wolf Cemetery, Lone Wolf, Kiowa County, Oklahoma under direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home.
