OBITUARY
Myrna Dean Wolfe Mowrey, 90, of Huntersville, NC, formerly of Tallahassee and Opa-Locka, FL, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, September 14. Mrs. Mowrey was born on September 19, 1918 in Baxley, Georgia and a daughter of Robert and Allie Wolfe. Over her lifetime, she was very active raising her family and working in her church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and Preschool Director at the First Baptist Church of Opa-Locka for many years and later worked with young people and adults at Tallahassee's Forest Heights Baptist Church. She worked in countless other ministries in both churches, brightening the days of young and old enriching the lives of many. Mrs. Mowrey moved to Huntersville, NC in October 2008, to spend time with family living in the Charlotte area. She enjoyed music, and playing with her grandchildren and even participating in a weekly "Girls Night Out." She served her Lord, through her words and actions teaching others about Christ's love all of her life and had a unique ability to make every person she came in contact with feel as though they were God's perfect creation. She was a beacon of love. It is impossible to know how many lives have been touched by her warmth, and how many families have been formed around values learned from her example. She will be so deeply missed and remembered by many. Myrna Dean was preceded in death by her husband Scott Aaron Mowrey. She is survived by six sons and two daughters and their families: Glen and wife, Jean of Charlotte, NC; Ron Mowrey and wife Becky, of Tallahassee, FL; Terry and wife Cass of Bradenton, FL; Tim Mowrey and wife Laura of Pensacola, FL; Randy Mowrey and wife Peggy of Denver, NC; Robert Mowrey of Cairo, GA; Elizabeth Hebert and husband Harold of Tallahassee, FL; and Myrna L. Mowrey of Huntersville, NC. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Tallahassee's Abbey-Riposta Funeral Home, 4037 N. Monroe Street. A service to celebrate Mrs. Mowrey‘s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 18 at Forest Heights Baptist Church, 1200 West Tharpe Street, Tallahassee. Burial will be at Tallahassee Memory Gardens, 4037 North Monroe Street, Tallahassee. The family expresses its appreciation to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Huntersville Presbyterian Hospital for the wonderful and loving care.
