Jacob J. Keim was born in Summit Township, Somerset County,
Pennsylvania, September 10, 1851, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Keim, and passed away Sunday, April 25, 1920, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Erwin Park, in Bruning, aged 68 years, 7 months and 15 days.

At the age of 18 years he was confirmed and united with the Lutheran Church and professed that faith up to the time of his demise.

September 23, 1879, he was united in marrirge to Catherine Lohr, who survives him.

To this union five children were born all of whom are living: Alice May Livengood, Henry Lohr, Harvey Alvin, Franklin Homer and Leah Catherine Park. Two brothers and four sisters survive: William Keim, Harrison Keim, Catherine Fauber, Mary Bates, Annie Hay and Savilla Bender.

One sister, Eliza Bender, preceded her brother in death
twenty-five years ago.

Jacob Keim, together with his wife, parents, brothers and sisters, came to this vicinity from Pennsylvania in 1880
and spent the remainder of his life in this vicinity.

He became a charter member of the First English Lutheran Church in Bruning and has been an active and loyal worker
in that church since its founding.

Mr. Keim passed through the experiences and hardships of
the pioneer farmer and withstood them all.

He had been failing in health for some time and was taken to the hospital at Hebron a few weeks ago. He returned a week ago and stopped at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leah Park in Bruning.

Saturday preceding his death he seemed exceptionally well and was stricken suddenly and passed away before medical
aid could reach him.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the English Lutheran Church, Rev. Paul Spaude, pastor.

A quartet composed of Clara Snyder, Mary Keil, Edwin Redelfs and Ruffus Trapp sang "Beautiful Isle", "It Is Well" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again."
Frieda Carter accompanist.
