Adrian Hegeman was born on Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, NY. He was a teacher at the Old Flatbush Dutch Reformed Church School and was also a skilled weaver. He served as clerk of Kings County from 1726-1750. As a weaver, during his spare time, he became one of the finest at his trade on Long Island. One of his pieces survived into the mid nineteenth century and was highly regarded. Adrian lived near the original family homestead on the east side of Flatbush Avenue near the Dutch Reformed Church. He first married Martha Van Der Beek with whom he had children. After the death of his first wife, Adrian Hegeman married Adrianetje. His second marriage was without issue. Will dated Sept 1, 1770, probated Apr 16,1772. Recorded on page 280 of Lib. 28, NY Surrogate Office. Signed his name "Adrian Hegeman".
