The Rev. Earl Stevenson will officiate at the services at the First Baptist Church here. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery under direction of Caraway Funeral Home.
Mr. Hughes was a retired truck driver and a lifelong resident of DeSoto Parish.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Opal Brown Hughes of Logansport; three daughters, Mrs. Gay Brazzil and Ann and Judy Hughes of Logansport; two sons, Herschel Hughes, Jr., of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Billy Earl Hughes of Fort Polk; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Bryant and Mrs. George Brown of Logansport and Mrs. Joe Dowdy of Houma; six brothers, Clyde, A. A. and Raymond Hughes of Shreveport; Harold Hughes of Houston, Tex., Huey Hughes of Jonesboro and Lloyd Hughes of Waldo, Ark.; and one grandchild.
