5 Jan 1951: Harry G. Edris, 627 Quentin Road, sixty-six year old trust officer of the Farmer's Trust Company and widely known in the banking profession since 1910, passed away suddenly at 8:50 a.m. today in the Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion. Although he had been undergoing treatment for a heart condition for some months, necessitating his entering the hospital on a previous occasion, his condition had steadily improved, and his sudden passing came as a shock today. He expired shortly after breakfast at the hospital. He was first admitted to the hospital on Nov. 20 and after a two weeks stay, returned home for a 10 day period. He returned to the hospital on Dec. 12. He was affiliated with local banks since 1910. He first entered the banking profession as a teller with the People's National Bank in 1910 and later joined the staff of the onetime Valley Trust Company on North Eighth Street near Willow. Upon the merger of the Farmer's Trust Company and the Valley Trust Company, he accepted a post at the former institution where he spent the remainder of his career. He became trust officer of the bank a number of years ago. He was a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Salem E.U.B. Sunday school. He was a son of the late Rev. Elias W. Edris and Cordelia Gingrich Edris. He leaves his wife, Kathryn, nee Ditzler; one son, Ernest, of Lebanon Route 5; five grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Samuel G., Fredericksburg Route 1; Mrs. Susan Zeigler, Richland; Pierce G. Edris, this city; Peter G. Edris, of York; and Elias G. Edris, of Newark, Ohio. [Lebanon Daily News]
