Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Braggadocio Saturday afternoon for John Thomas Waldrop, 84, life-time resident of Pemiscot county, who died at his home there on Thursday, November 20. The Rev. O.W. Auten conducted the service and burial was in Little Prarie cemetery, this city, with Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Waldrop was born October 1, 1868, at Braggadocio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Waldrop and lived all his life on the farm where he was born, retiring from farming about ten years ago.
On March 23, 1890, he was married to Miss Rosa Lee Kirkman, who died in 1941. Eight children were born of the marriage, five of them surviving. Known to his friends as "Uncle Tom" Waldrop, he had been a member of the Methodist church since he was a young man.
He is survived by one son, E.L. Waldrop of Braggadocio; four daughers, Mrs. Fred Terrell and Mrs. Edwin Bruton of Braggadocio, Mrs. Wisa Wilcox of St. Louis and Mrs. Shelby Adams of Hayti; one brother, Wilce Waldrop of Braggadocio; seventeen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
