After a brief illness, Mrs. Ruby Plunkett Burch went to be with our Lord on December 23, 2008 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

"Miss Ruby" was born in Montgomery, LA on May 17, 1915 to the union of "Will" and "Rube" Plunkett and was 93 years 7 months and 6 days old at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Finous Fortner and her husband of 47 years, Odus Burch. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bernis Gongre of Montgomery, her two brothers, Otis and O. W. Plunkett of Rock Hill Community and four great-grandsons - twins Ethan and Kaleb Ancelet of Sulphur, LA and Mason and Jarrett Burch of Lake Charles, LA.

She is survived by her daughter Ann Lanclos of Alexandria, LA and her son, Gerald Burch of Lake Charles, LA; three grandchildren, Mike Lanclos of Pineville, Monica Burch Ancelet of Sulphur, and Mark Burch of Lake Charles; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Lanclos of Pineville, Dallas Burch of Lake Charles, and Tanner Ancelet of Sulphur.

"Miss Ruby" retired from Grant Parish School System in 1980. She was a school lunchroom employee at Montgomery High School and Lunchroom Manager at J.W. Gaines Junior High from which she retired. After living most of her life in Montgomery, she moved to Alexandria to be near her daughter.

"Miss Ruby" was a kind and gentle lady who never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was a beautiful white haired "real lady" who will be missed by all who knew her. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Montgomery but attended Cloverdale Baptist Church after moving to Alexandria.

Services will be at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Montgomery, LA, conducted by the Reverends Ray Teal and Dennis Snoddy under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.

Pallbearers will be Steven "Tee" Ancelet, Herb Boykin, Rick Boykin, Luther, Toughton, Jimmy Howard and Gary McKithern.

Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 26 from 6 p,m. to 9 p.m. in the church and Saturday from 1 p.m. to time of services.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Greg Brian and all the nurses and staff on 4-A at Rapides Regional. A special thanks to Al Jean White, the kind lady who sat with her at night in the hospital. Memorials may be made in the name of Mrs. Ruby Burch to the Baptist Children's Home or to Cloverdale Baptist Church.
