Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lockart and Sons Funeral Home, Cowden, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
He was born March 3, 1923, in Fancher, the son of H.D. and Estella Askins Banning. He married Margaret Phillips July 11, 1942 in Warrenton, Mo.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Phillip of Bethany, Randy of Cowden and Rick of Sheldon; brother, Eldon BAnning of Shelbyville; sister, Wavalene Johnson of Decatur; and five granddaughters.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Banning was a life-long farmer and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 965 of Springfield and was affiliated with the Free Methodist Church.
