EAST LIVERPOOL Carletta Arrington, 80, of Erie Street died at 9:15 a.m., Sept. 2, 2009, at City Hospital.
Born Sept. 6, 1928 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Alice A. Burks.
Mrs. Arrington was a 1946 graduate of East Liverpool High School.
A lifetime area resident and former member of Sheridan A.M.E. Church, she had worked as a baker at East Liverpool City Hospital and as a sales clerk at Hills Department Store.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Arrington, on Dec. 15, 2003.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah S. Arrington Lindsley, on June 16, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara L. Arrington of Cleveland and a son, Gary L. "Buzzy" Arrington of East Liverpool.
Five sisters surviving include Betty Wright and her husband, Harold, of Wellsville; Norine Gilham and her husband, Sylvester, of Streetsboro, Ohio; Billie Rose of New Brighton, Pa.; Carole Miller and her husband, Robert, of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and Jeanette Hicks and her husband, Walter, of East Liverpool and a brother, James Burks of New Brighton, Pa.
Also surviving is a son-in-law, Terrence Lindsley of South Euclid, Oh.
Services are planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Peachey of Second Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park followed by a gathering at the Dawson Family Center.
