Arnold "Arnie" Alvin Aker, 71, of Park Rapids/Nevis/Cambridge MN died on Monday, February 19, 2007 at home in Cambridge, MN after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 26, 1935 in Benton, County, Rice, MN the son of Oscar and Mary (Kuschel) Aker. He was raised on a farm in Rice, MN and attended school at Sauk Rapids, MN.
He was united in marriage to Cecile Y. Dropps on November 3, 1956 at Meadowlands, MN. He worked in the Twin Cities where he drove truck for 18 years. He started Akers Doors Inc., Ham Lake, MN in 1970. He retired in 1995 and moved to Nevis, MN on Spider Lake. In 2000 they moved to Park Rapids and in 2006 they moved to Cambridge, MN.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years - Cecile Y. Akers of Cambridge, MN; Son Kevin (Pam) Akers of Mora, MN; Two daughters – Kimberly Kietzmann of Nevis, MN; Kay (Mark) George of Cedar, MN; 4 grandchildren; Nicole, Alyssa, Joey, and Alec. One great grandchild – Kara; Brother – Donald (Jan) Aker of Moundsview, MN; Many sister-in-laws, two brother-in-laws, Two nieces, cousins, many special friends and two Christian Children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Joel Kietzmann.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis, MN. Rev. A.J. Kluver will be the officiant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4 until 9 pm at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Nevis, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Interment will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Morning Side Gardens Cemetery in Coon Rapids, MN.
