We are saddened to announce the passing of Retired Columbia Heights Fire Captain Donald Aker. Donald served with the Department from July 1st of 1962 to July 9th of 1982. Over his 20 years with the department he rose to the rank of Captain, was placed in charge of the Fire Prevention Bureau, and was a friend and mentor to many firefighters. The department would like to extend our sympathies out to all who knew him and thank his family for his service to the community for so many years.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 23rd at 11 am at Sunrise Methodist Church, 7687 Long Lake Road in Moundsview, MN with a visitation beginning at 10 am.
