Conley Newton Fikes, 75, of Pine Bluff died Sunday. He was the son of the late Jessie Newton and Lucy Bryles Fikes. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1940. Mr. Fikes served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, where he graduated with honors from the Army Air Force Technical Training Command. He owned and operated Fikes Trucking Company since 1946.

He was a member and deacon of Greenlee Baptist Church and also a member of American Legion Post #32 and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Berta Ratcliff Fikes; three sons, Conley Wayne Fikes of Little Rock, Carroll Ray Fikes of Weatherford, Texas, Gerald David Fikes of Memphis; two brothers, Arthur Fikes and J.N. Fikes of Pine Bluff; four sisters, Ara Ashcraft of Sheridan, Nell West, Dean Browning, Eva Lee Hervey, all of Pine Bluff; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mattie Mae Riggs, Ava Smith; two brothers, Ralph and Roy Fikes and a grandson, Christopher Conley Fikes.
