Sometime about 1922 her parents decided to move to Los Angeles County, California. Her father had a Franklin touring car that they drove across country - both parents, the three daughters, and one aunt. They had many adventures along the way, but ended up living in Whittier, California.
Her father died a tragic death in 1924. After this, Marion wanted to go back to Binghamton, so she went there to visit and met her future husband there.
Marion married John Swetech 22 Oct 1927 in Port Dickinson, New York. John was employed as a clerk with IBM in Binghamton. They had three children: John Jr.; Shirley Jean; Charles Edwin.
After the birth of her first child, her and husband John decided it would be best for the family to move to California, where Marion's mother was. Her mother was working and was able to pay for Marion and son Jack to travel by train to California. John followed some little time later by bus over Route 66.
The family lived in Paramount, Downey, and then finally settled in South Gate, California.
Marion was a loving homemaker who enjoyed her rose garden and time spent together with family. She and John lived within walking distance of her daughter and son-in-law. She loved taking care of her grandson while her daughter was working.
Marion was a wonderfully sweet person, gentle and kind. She is greatly missed by all who knew her.
