Harry was employed as an auto mechanic. The family decided to move to Los Angeles County, California for better employment opportunities and a better way of life. Sometime between 1920 and 1924 they set out in their Franklin touring car, Harry, Elizabeth, the three daughters and one of Elizabeth's sisters, Jennie. It was a full car load and they had many adventures along the way, but they made it to Whittier, California where they made their home at 415 N. Gregory Avenue.
After the death of her husband in 1924, Elizabeth found employment as a nurse at the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California. She worked there for many years. With her income she was able to help various family members during the depression.
Elizabeth suffered with Parkinson's disease and died of pneumonia. She was kind and gentle and is greatly missed by her family.
