GANDY GATHERINGS
(by Mrs. Fran Harp Nash, published in Claiborne Parish Trails)

Claiborne H. GANDY, b. Mar 1884, the third child of James and Edith. Like his sister and brother, he was grown when his father passed away. About this time the oil fields were booming in Oil City, Louisiana and H (as he was called) went to Oil City to seek his fortune. While there, it is believed, he married his first wife, Eula WHITE. He later moved to Haughton to be near his brother and sister and started farming. While here he met and married his second wife, Pearl LEAMONS. He was a good and hard working farmer and it has been said that he had one of the prettiest "pea patches" around at that time. He was always eager to share his vegetables with his family and has been called the "free hearted" one in the family. He is buried in a little cemetery near Doyline, Louisiana. His wife, Pearl, lives in Haughton. They were the parents of five children:
1. Audrey Leon GANDY, md. Nelvin ????
2. Claiborne H. GANDY, md. Maggie Mae Bingle
3. Emma Lorene GANDY, md. Troy T. McDaniel
4. Robert Alexander GANDY
5. Lillie Irene GANDY, md. Hubert Ray Pebworth
