He was married April 18, 1872, to Rebecca A. Stout, who, with the following children survive: John J., Springdale; Mrs. Maggie Hastings, Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Gertrude Millett, Provo; Boyd. St. George; Mrs. Eva Nielson, Cedar City; Mrs. Thora De Mille, Rockville, and Mrs. Vera Allred of Springdale.


Mr. Dennett was a Pony Express rider and a member of the local martial band.


At the coming of the railroad he broke track through Echo canyon, driving five yoke of oxen before the plough.


Burial was in the Rockville cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by James Jeppson.
