William P. "Bill" Salvador,
74, of Yuma, died Friday, Feb.23, 2001 in Haxtun of natural causes.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 26, at the Haxtun United Methodist Church with the Revs. Mike Bergman and Lyle Shossow officiating. Burial was at the Haxtun Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Tennant Funeral Home in Haxtun.
Mr. Salvador was born on Aug. 2, 1926 to HE. and Alice (Sperber)Salvador in Yuma County.
He grew up on the family farm in the Wages area. He went to Wages Grade School and graduated from Haxtun High School in 1945.
He entered the U.S. Army and served for two years near the end of World War II.
On May 23, 1948 he married Joan "Jody" Bentson at the Haxtun Methodist Church. The couple began going to Arizona in the winter of 1981. He was active in the Wages Methodist Church until it closed.
He then became a member of the Haxtun United Methodist Church. He attended the Congregational Church of the Valley in Chandler, Ariz.
He was a member of the Haxtun Masonic Lodge No. 164 A.F. and A.M., Wray Elks Lodge No. 2409, and Sun Lakes Branch El Jebel Shriners.
Mr. Salvador is survived by a son, Rodney Salvador and wife Julie of Yuma; a daughter, Candace Hofmeister and hus band Joseph of Haxtun; two brothers, Harry Salvador and wife Mary of Yuma, and Frank Salvador and wife Jannis of Holyoke; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jody Salvador.
