Veronica was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to the US in 1905. She settled with her family in Chicago. In 1908 she married Ignatius James Babusiak and together they had ten children: Joseph Eugene, John Julius, Helen Barbara, James G., Mary Veronica, Steven Eugene, Andrew R., Josephine "Finka", Anna Theres "Honey" and Richard Peter.
