The angels came down through the clouds and escorted Jerry T. Lilley home to be with his Heavenly Father for eternity on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 after 84 wonderful years of life. "JT" or "Poppie" was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many who knew him. JT was born in Durant February 20, 1920, as the oldest son to Mabel Ivy and Jerry Oliver Lilley. On Christmas Eve in 1945, he married his best friend and soul mate, Olga Mae Fulcher and spent the next 58 wonderful years with the family that he loved dearly.

After serving his country in the Army during World War II, JT and Olga made their home in Alamogordo, New Mexico for the next 52 years. JT worked at Holloman AFB and retired from civil service in 1979. In the spring of 2002, they returned to Durant to be close to their beloved family and friends. His joy was spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Oliver and Mabel Ivy Lilley; two sisters, Irene Carson and Hazel Brady, and two brothers, William Arnold Lilley and Kenneth Lilley.


Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19th at the Dalton-Holmes Funeral Chapel in Durant, with Rev. Fred Ward officiating. Following the committal services, the First Presbyterian Church in Durant will host the family gathering.

A Family Hour will be held at the Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home from 6 - 7 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be David Lilley, Jerry Lilley, Mike Lilley, Mike Thornberry, Ron Riley, Jeremy Lilley and David Odem. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Durant.
