PROVO -- David Laird, 68, 943 E. 1060 S., died Wednesday night at Utah Valley Hospital here after a lingering illness.

Mr. Laird was born Feb. 2, 1883, in Park City, a son of David and Elizabeth Gardner Laird. The family moved to Eureka when he was 16 years of age and he resided there until 1943, when Mr. Laird moved to Provo where he had resided since.

He was engaged in mining work most of his life.

Survivors include his widow, Provo; four sons and five daughters, Robert D. Laird, Mrs. Orvil Pat Richins, Mrs Jay (Etta) Hinkins and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Mecham, all of Provo; David K. Laird, Orem; Vern and Demar Laird, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Amel (Rachel) Elder, Hurley, N. M.; and Mrs. Robert (Florence) Gilson, Dragerton, Carbon County; two brothers and four sisters, Hyrum Laird, Spring Canyon; William Laird, Payson; Mrs. Jessie Johnson, Provo; Mrs. Agnes Riley, Washington state; Mrs. Joan King, Payson, and Mrs. Kate Steele, Orem and 23 grandchildren.

Friends may call Sunday evening at Fairbanks-Pyne Mortuary, Orem and Monday prior to services at the family residence in Provo. Burial will be in Provo Cemetery.
