George E. Compton, 89, of Magee (formerly of Carrollton) died November 9 at Magee Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bell Henderson Compton of Magee; seven sons, George Compton of Greenwood, William Compton of Cleveland, Jesse Compton of Columbus, Earl Compton, Lee Compton, Curtis Compton all of Puckett. and Clarence Compton of South Carolina; three daughters, Mrs. Eva Ruth Ainsworth of Magee, Mrs. Gladys Therrell of Cleveland and Mrs. Mildred Jennings of Puckett; also a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at Colonial Funeral Home in Magee on Saturday, November 10 at 4 o'clock, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery near Starkville on Sunday, November 11 at 2 o'clock.
National Guardsmen served as pallbearers.
