George F. Walker Sykesville Native Died February 12
Father of Local Man Died in Home at Kittanning After Long Illness; Was Well and Favorably known Locally; Services Held Saturday
Was Aged Sixty-Nine Years
Funeral Services were held at the St. Luke's Reformed Church in Kittanning on Saturday for George F. Walker, father of William P. Walker, of Sykesville, who died at his home in Kittanning last Wednesday. Burial was made in the Jefferson Memorial Park in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Walker's death was due to a two years' illness suffering with cardiac. He was aged 69 years.
The deceased was born in Sykesville on October 4, 1871, a son of Frederick and Christine (Zufall) Walker. ON May 31, 1898, he was united in marriage to Mary L. McAuley, who survives as do three sons and daughters.
He was held in high regard by all who knew him and was a member of the St. Luke's Reformed Church. He was employed as superintendent of water and streets in Appleswold Borough.
Surviving him are his widow and the following sons and daughters: William P. Walker, of Sykesville; Mrs. Christine Allingham, of Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Kyle, of Pittsburgh; Miss Catherine Walker, at home; Clarence R. Walker, of Kittanning, and George Walker, of Kittanning.
These brothers and sisters also survive: Henry, of Sykesville; Irvin, of Mount Pleasant; Clarence of Porto Rico; G.A. Walker, Pauline Walker, Mrs. Mary C. George, of Kittanning; Mrs. Effie Couch, of Norristown; and Mrs. Barbara London, of Pittsburgh. Five grandchildren are also among his survivors.
