Anthony B Fox, 81, of 205 Ellis St., died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Hospitla, Tomah. Born in the town of Empire on February 11, 1889, he was the son of Nickalas and Josephine Menne Fox. He married Marie R Abler on November 13, 1923, at Mount Calvary.
Mr. Fox was employed as a shoe inspector by Menzie Shoe Co., until 1920 and also at Fred Rueping Leather Co., retiring 11 years ago. He was a member of St. Josephs Church, Holy Name Society and Catholic War Veterans, and was a veteran of World War I. He had played with the city Military Band and also the Army band while in service. He also had played with the Toot Sweeter Orchestra.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Nelson of the city, Mrs Murray Steinmates of Appleton and Mrs. Edward Holzman of Route 1, Elkhart Lake; one son, Bernard Fox at home; six grandchildren; two brothers, Edward and Frank Fox, both of the city; and one sister Mrs. Nora Goebel of Wichita, Kans.
One grandchild preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Josephs Church. The Rev. Ralph Gross will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Funeral services for Anthony B. Fox, who died Wednesday, were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St Joseph’s church. The Rev. Ralph Gross officiated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery. The organist was Mark Meixensperger. Pallbearers were Lloyd R. Nelson, Harry Meixensperger, Joe Van Asten, Dr. Edward Fox Jr., Ben Fox and Lawrence Fox.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Trier-Puddy Post 75 of the American Legion. Joseph Karst and Henry Rucks served as color bearers; Clarence Fenner and Elmer Root, color guards; Leo Marcoe, Albert Balthazor, Edward Stubbs, John Pitas, John Wacysnki and Tage Swanson, firing detail; Charles Novak, bugler; and Lawrence E. McEnroe, commander.
