Clarence N. Burr, 89, of 1224 Wade Street, died Tuesday night at Mercy Hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1;30 p.m., at the Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty, with the Rev. Max E. Paige officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Thursday evening. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Burr was born Feb. 9, 1884, at Lone Tree, the son of Levi and Elizabeth Mathiesen Burr.

He married Irene I. Smith, March 3, 1915, at Muscatine.

He farmed all his adult life in Johnson County until his retirement in 1963 due to ill health.

Surviving are his widow; four sons, Cleo, Harvey and Lon, all of West Liberty, Chester of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Iona Waite of West Liberty, and Mrs. Ruby Larson of Downey; 21 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Two brothers died earlier.
