Emma Canfield was the only daughter of Marion Canfield and May Catherine Warner. She married Rolla Edwin Creaser in Wilmington in 1898. Three children: Edwin, Gladys & Marion.
Diagnosed with Type I Diabetes didn't prevent her from sneaking off for the occasional ice cream from Keane's Ice Cream Parlor in Burney. But a broken hip from which she never recovered had her bedfast for the last 9 years of her life.
Her radio came on at 6am with Cadel's Tabernacle and the strains of "Ere you left your room this morning, did you think to pray" began the day for the Creaser household.
Life was not easy for her - or for the family that had to be on call 24/7 to care for her - but she still took pleasure in the company of her youngest granddaughter, Donna, and allowed her to play with her paper dolls on the spare bed in her bedroom.
Her darling oldest son, Edwin, left family, friends and Indiana in 1947 never to be heard of again. Even on her death bed, she always thought he would come walking back into her life and turned her head at the footsteps she heard from another room, a faint smile came to her lips, and she quietly passed from this life. Perhaps Edwin had come back to her because 60 years later his death and subsequent burial was found on this Findagrave website. He had died in 1953, just 6 years after leaving his family and less than a year after his father, Rollie, had died.
