James Hampton Darter was born 1869 in Illinois. He is the son of William Henry Darter and Sara Taylor. He married Sarah Chastain July 24 1888 in Van Buren, Crawford County Arkansas. He passed away September 13, 1948 in Pope County Arkansas, and was buried at Tate cemetery with the rest of his family.

Funeral service for James H. Darter, 80, brother of Ben Darter of Ozark, was held at Tate cemetery at Russellville Tuesday. Mr. Darter, a native of Illinois who had lived in Pope county since he was 10 years old, died at his home near Appleton.
One other brother, Alonzo Darter of Russellville, is among the survivors.
