SHELBY SENTINEL OBITUARY – 06/24/1971
Mrs. Alice Dubourg Kaltenbacher, 95, formerly of Shelbyville, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday [June 16, 1971] of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Fink in Havertown, PA. Mrs. Kaltenbacher was a daughter of the late M.L. & Margaret Howe Dubourg, prominent residents. She was the widow of W.S. Kaltenbacher, at one time writer for the Shelby Sentinel and later a feature writer for the Courier Journal. He was blind for many years, however he continued his writing for the Louisville paper. Mrs. Kaltenbacher was possessed with a brilliant mind and was strong in her convictions of what she believed to be right. She will be pleasantly remembered by older residents of Shelbyville. Other survivors include a son, Dominick Kaltenbacher, Towson, MD, and several nieces and nephews in Shelbyville. The Rosary was said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Shannon Funeral Home and funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Church of Annunciation by the Rev. Father Chester Bowling. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vincent, Hugh, Quintin & Joe Biagi, Thomas Duffy and James Cotter.
