Mrs. Hammons was born in Gulfport to the late Aaron and Alma Bond Allen. She was married to the love of her life, Henry Edgar, for 73 years until his death on June 23 of this year. She lived her life for her family, keeping a home for her children and and grandchildren, whom she adored. She enjoyed spending time playing cards with friends and family and winning. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; son, Henry A. "Butch" Hammons; brothers, Henry A. Allen, Jr. and Robert M.
