Mr. Allen was a native of Long Beach and a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He served in the U.S. Army, worked many years in the construction industry and was a former superintendent for the City of Long Beach. He was also a member of Southern Star Masonic Lodge No. 500 F&AM, Long Beach, and of Antioch Baptist Church in Long Beach.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Aaron Allen, Sr., and Alma Bond Allen; and a brother, Robert M. Allen, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Woodcock Allen of Long Beach; five sons, Wayne Allen and wife, Kathy; David Allen and wife, Yvette, all of Pass Christian; Dennis Allen and wife, Phyllis; James Allen and Shannon Baranski, all of Long Beach; Rodney Allen and wife, Debbie, of Petal; two brothers, Jerry Allen of Long Beach and Richard Allen of Diamondhead; four sisters, Juanita Hammons, Shirley Cuevas, both of Long Beach, Norma Jean Collins of Pass Christian, and Alice May Lewis of Biloxi; nine grandchildren and six great-grand- children.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, Saturday, May 27, at Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
