John E. "Big John," beloved husband of Ruth I. (nee Bias) Gough for 54 years of marriage. Loving father of Patricia A. Mjelde, Kevin J. Gough, Maureen R. Lyman, Mary Grace Ross, and Peggy Dziech. Devoted grandfather of Karin Lavigne, Kecia Reichstein, Jason Ross, Kyle and Zane Dziech, Tim and Torrey Gough and great-grandfather of Justin Lavigne. Dear brother of Mary Lou Palmer. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

Served aboard the USS Texas and USS Bunker Hill (during WWII). Retired Lieutenant Cincinnati Fire Department after 35 years. Member of Seton Council Knights of Columbus and Veteran of Foreign Wars.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at 79 years of age. Visitation Holy Family Church, 814 Hawthorne Avenue (Price Hill), Monday, June 24, 2001, form 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Memorials may be made to Cincinnati Fire Museum, 315 West Court Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202. B.J. Meyer Sons Funeral Home serving the family
