Doris Leona Smith, 89, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Cleveland County, died Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at Arkansas Convalescent Center, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Born at New Edinburg on January 23, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Dave Kelly Cash and Leona Foster Cash.

She was reared and educated at New Edinburg. She also attended school at Rison and was a graduate of Kingsland High School. After high school, she graduated from Central Baptist Colley. She was a teacher at Woodlawn School, Calmer Community, for several years. Mrs. Smith retired from the Department of Human Services after 26 years as a caseworker.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the P. E. O.

She was the widow of Kit Smith who died April 28, 1979. They were married at Rison in May, 1935.

Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters; Marie Cash and Cora Cash Boyd.

Survivors include a son: David M. Smith, of Lumberton, Texas, a brother: O. S. “Otis” Cash of Warren, and a sister Mildred Miles of Hot Springs, two grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, February 9, 2001, at the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, conducted by William Lee Kinney.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at Rison, with Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. OBIT provided by contributor Linda
