William Queen
William "Uncle Bill" Queen, 99, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, March 10, 1993, at a local health-care center.
Born in Kelly, Kansas, Mr. Queen moved to the Wathena, Kan., and St. Joseph areas at the age of 12.
He was a cook for his two brothers' resturants and later for Al Romig. He also worked in the street department for the City of St. Joseph, retiring in 1966.
During World War I, Mr. Queen served as a cook in the Army. He was a member of Mitchell Park Christian Church and Veterans of World War l of the U.S.A.
He was preceeded in death by his first wife, Thelma; his second wife Minnie; a son, Billy, killed during World War ll; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving: step grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Service: 1p.m. Saturday, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Bellemont Cemetery, Wathena. Visitation : after 9 a.m. today, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
