E. B. Laughlin
Edgar B. Laughlin, 85, of 2025 Michigan Ave. died at 12:05 p.m. Friday at the East Liverpool Convalescent Center No. 2. He had been ill since Aug. 19. He served as Safety - Service Director in 1936 under Mayor O. E. Greenwalt and also was a pump operator for the East Liverpool Water Department, retiring in 1970. Mr. Laughlin was born July 17, 1896, at Frankfort Springs, Pa., the son of the late William Laughlin and Maggie Allison Laughlin. He was a member of the Oakland Free Methodist Church. He also was a life member of the American Legion Post 374 and the Pennova Lodge of the I.O.O. F., and a member of the Forty and Eight and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 122. He was a World War I army veteran. His wife, the former Ida M. Twyford, died April 1952. Mr. Laughlin is survived by one son, Jack B. Laughlin, and one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Thelma) Surgeon, both of East Liverpool; one brother, Frank Laughlin of Beaver, Pa.; seven grandchildren and five great - grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. John F. States of the church officiating. Burial will be at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.
