Emma O. Mortimer, daughter of Emanuel and Jemina Mortimer, was born in the town of Chilton Feb. 5, 1857. She remained in this town until Feb. 14, 1889, when she was married to Otto H. Luehrs and sent to Charlestown to resided.
The deceased had been ill for the past eight months and in October last underwent a medical operation at Chicago. On her return she was some better although she was not permanently benefited and two months ago she was obliged to take to her bed, since that time there has been little hope of her recovery.
Mrs. Luehrs was a good Christian mother devoted and kind to her own children and also to the motherless ones over which she was placed. She was highly spoken of and will be greatly missed by everyone in the vicinity of her home.
A husband and four children, two boys and two girls, and five stepchildren, four boys and a girl, survive her. She also leaves three brothers, Allen, George and Albert Mortimer and two sisters, Mrs. John Davis and Mrs. Harvey N. Yule.
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon for the residence with interment in the family lot in the New Holstein cemetery.
