Rex Barnard, 63, Oskaloosa, Iowa, died at 11:30 p.m Sunday at Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa, after a long illness.
He was the father of Shirley Freeman, Carthage.
Mr. Barnard was born May 22, 1925 in Cedar, Iowa. He worked as a custodian of the William Penn College Student Union for 22 years before retiring. He was married to Doris Hockey Sept. 16, 1045. She survives.
Other survivors include a second daughter Connie Cummings; his mother Ruth Joy Barnard; four brothers Jay Barnard and Jack Barnard. Bill Barnard and Glen Barnard. Three sisters Bonnie Smith, Ruth Lane and Pat DeWitt. Four grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Newman Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa. The Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Allen Bowman will officiate, with burial in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
Memorial contributions may be made tot he Mahaska County Hospice of the American Cancer Society.
