Pheba [or Phoeba] was born May 30, 1884, at Louisa, KY [or Caines Creek, Lawrence Co, KY]. She was one of eleven children of Mary Jane Williams and Andrew James Blythe. In November of 1885, the family moved to Morris County, Kansas. In 1903, Pheba was married to Julius S. Oleson at the Kaw Mission in Council Grove, [Morris Co] KS. To them were born seven children. One child, Elsa Lorene, died at birth. Another child, Irene Classon, died in April, 1971. In January, 1910, Pheba and her husband and children moved to Butler County, KS, near Cassoday, where they made their home for 18 years. The Oleson family returned to Morris County in 1929, and lived on a farm near Dwight [Morris Co, KS]. In 1939, they moved to Dunlap [Morris Co, KS] where they operated a restaurant and service station. The family returned to Dwight in 1942 where they operated a restaurant until 1945 when they moved to Council Grove where they made their home. Julius passed away February 5, 1952. Mrs. Oleson was a member of the United Methodist Church in Council Grove and was active in its work through the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary nd the Jolly 15 Club. Mrs. Oleson was active in church nd community affairs as long as her health permitted. For many years, she kept a garden that expressed her love for flowers and gardening. She was especially proud of her roses. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Alfred (Inez) Nordeen, Mrs. Carroll (Bernice) Wray; three sons: L.D. Oleson, M.E. Oleson, and R.J. Oleson. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, at the Kendall Chapel [Council Grove] with Rev. Jerry Howard officiating. Burial is to be in the Parkerville Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Dale Hosier, Dorrell Johnson, Albert Kern, Melvin Hosier, Merlin Johnson, and Clarence Volland. Soloist was Ralph Mock and Nellie Boyer was the organist.
