Coy Beckham Dies Suddenly Friday; Burial in Apache
Services for Coy Beckham, 54, were Sunday afternoon in Westville and burial was in the Apache cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday. Beckham, former resident of this community, died suddenly Friday in his car near his home in Westville. He stopped his car after he was stricken.
Services were conducted by the pastor of the Westville Baptist church of which Beckham had been a member since 1949.
Born at Martin Mills, Tenn., Dec. 24, 1899, Beckham came to Oklahoma as a young man and spent most of his life in Kiowa and Caddo counties except 14 years he lived in Salina, Calif.
He was married to Gladys Lucille Greeley in September, 1926 and to them a son and a daughter were born.
Surviving are his wife at the home; the son, Norman Ray Beckham, Westville; and daughter, Mrs. G. William Schweer. Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Harvey, of Carnegie, and Carl, of Tulsa; and a sister, Mrs. Earl Metz, Carnegie, and many other near relatives in this community.
Attending the services in Westville Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mettz and Harvey Beckham, Carnegie; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Metts and Glen D. Beckham, Duncan; Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Bennett, Alfalfa; and Jack Beckham, Colony; and joining the family for the services in Apache Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Volz, Fort Cobb and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kinnaird and Katy, of Perry.

Funeral service for Coy Beckham, 55, widely known resident of this community, who died suddenly Friday, February 11, at his rural home southeast of town, after suffering a heart attack, was conducted Sunday at 4:30 p.m. from the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Carl Foster, pastor of the local Baptist Church, officiating. The body was taken to Apache, OK, his former home, by the Roberts Funeral Home, for burial. Mrs. Paul Carrington and Mrs. Carl Ishmael, with Mrs. Grover Howard at the piano , sang Beyond the Sunset, In The Garden, and Twill Not be Long. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Schweer of Independence, MO; one son, Norman, of Okmulgee; one grandaughter; two brothers and one sister. Mr. Beck Beckham was born December 24, 1899 in Tennessee, the son of F. S. and Holly Beckham. He with his family had been living in Westville for the past several years, coming here from the western part of the state. For awhile he was a farmer and broiler raiser, but for the past two years has been a representative for the Kansas City Star. He was an active member of the local Baptist Church.
