Funeral services for Mrs. Carless Jane Williams, 70 were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville, with the Rev. Howard Ray officiating. Mrs. Williams died at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis last Friday.
Born in Alamo, Tenn. on February 12, 1893, to the late Sam and Tilitha Tidwell, she was married in 1907 to William Monroe Williams, who died in 1951.
The family moved from Tennessee in 1918 to Pemiscot county. Mr. Williams operated a grocery store n Deering until they moved to Caruthersville in 1942.
Survivors include six sons, Boyd, Lloyd and Alvie Williams, all of St. Louis, Willam Earl Williams of Longview, Wash. and Harry A. and Emory C. Williams of Caruthersville; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Powell and Mrs. Katherine Burns of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Ruby Sullivan of Longview, Wash. and Miss Margaret Williams of St. Louis; a brother, R.M. Tidwell of Bakersville; 32 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Maple cemetery and H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge.
