She attended school in Franklin County, Illinois.
On February 28, 1917 she was united in marriage to Mr. P.B. Acuff Sr. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1955.
Mrs. Acuff was the office manager for People Oil Company for 26 years before her retirement.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville since 1916 and was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class.
She was a member of the Pemiscot County Historical Society, Rebecca's and the RSVP.
Survivors include; two sons, P.B. Acuff, Jr. of Caruthersville,Mo. and Dr. William J. Acuff of Knoxville, Tn.; two daughters, Evelyn Lawes of Atlanta, Ga. and Mary C. Cullum of Caruthersville, Mo.; one sister, Lillie Martin of Sparta, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.
Services were held on May 4, 1997 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. James F. Pinkerton and Rev. Ira Singleton officiating. Burial was held on May 5, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Cemetery.
