Lyder Larson died Sunday, October 22 in an area hospital. He was born July 29, 1908 in Steele County near Hatton. His parents were the late Albert Larson and Karen Swain Larson. He was baptized at Goose River Church and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church east of Hatton.
Funeral services were held today, Thursday October 26 at 1 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, east of Hatton. Members of Carroll O. Flesche Post 70 of the American Legion presented the flag. Rev. Reuben Jacobson officiated. Soloist was Vernon Jenson and Sheila Jenson was organist. Interment was in Goose River Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Joseph Olson, Reuben Lerfald, Alvin Lerfald, Edwin Fuglesten, Carl Fuglesten, Norlin Lillemoen, Harold Moen and Herbert Liening.
Mr. Larson was a member of the Army Engineer Corps in the European Theatre during World War II from 1942 to 1945, after which he returned to Hatton and was employed by the Chevrolet garage as mechanic. He also did blacksmith work in Hatton, and later became engaged in farming in Morgan township which he continued until his death.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran congregation and the Carroll O. Flesche Post 70, American Legion, Hatton, and the VFW in Mayville.
Surviving are three brothers: Rudolph of San Bernardino, Calif., Alfred of Northwood and Sivert of Hatton, and four sisters: Mrs. Nilson (Gunhild) Brumwell, Northwood; Mrs. Art (Caroline) Winters, Thompson, N.Dak., Mrs. Arthur (Gladys) Hagness of Grand Forks, Mrs. Julius (May) Holweger, Northwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Mentz and Oscar.
