Miss Ruby E. Brubaker, 59, was found dead in her bed at the home of Mrs. Margaret Crawford at 409 Green street in Traer last Friday evening by two neighbors who stopped in to check on the condition of Mrs. Crawford who has been bedfast most or the time of late. Ruby had been assisting in the Crawford home several years, and helped with the care of Mrs. Crawford's sister, the late Mrs. John Tischhauser, until the latter's death. She had been with Mrs. Crawford since. Ruby had been dead about 12 hours when found and it was thought that she had died suddenly. Her death was believed caused by diabetes, with which she had been afflicted most of her life. Mrs. Crawford, who was confined to her bed, had been unable to go to the telephone to summon help.
Ruby was born April 18, 1908 at Dinsdale, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Fleming Brubaker. She attended the Dinsdale school in girlhood, and in her first year of high school she was stricken by diabetes and was unable to finish high school. She lived at home with her parents until her mother's death in 1954. Most of the years since she was the helper in several homes in Traer. She assisted the late Emma and Ida Sirrine, and before going to the Crawford home she had stayed with Mrs. Gertrude Bowen. Services for Ruby were held in Amity United Presbyterian church in Grant township Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. John O. Wollin, pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frahm sang two hymns, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Wollin. Pallbearers were Randy Brubaker, Bert Brubaker, Edward G. Jackson, David McMillan, James Wyatt and Morris Dinsdale. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McMillan and Mr. and Mrs. George Addison, were in charge of the flowers. Donald and Thomas Dinsdale served as ushers at the church service. Miss Brubaker leaves two brothers, Rupert and Russel both of the Dinsdale community.
