Mrs. Mary E . Brubaker, 80, lifelong resident of the Dinsdale community, died about 6 o'clock Tuesday morning at her home. She had been confined to her home since suffering a stroke five years ago. Another severe paralytic stroke suffered Sunday afternoon March 14, 1954 caused her death.

Mrs. Brubaker was born Mary E. Fleming, daughter of William and Rebekah Fleming, in Grant township, Tama county on August 6 , 1873. She attended the neighborhood school and also old Western college in Toledo, and was married November 14, 1900, to Sam S. Brubaker, at the parental Fleming home by the Rev. Mr. Bailey, pastor of Tranquillity church, near Traer. After their marriage, the couple lived in Dinsdale ten years, Mr. Brubaker working for William Fleming. Then they moved to the farm one mile southwest of Dinsdale, where they reared their family.

The Brubakers were parents of three children— Rupert, Ruby and Russell. The husband and father died October 12, 1947, and since that time Ruby and her mother have lived together on the farm operated by Russell. Mrs. Brubaker also leaves eight grandchildren - Mary Lou, Lora Jean, Sheri, Bert, Carol, Rebecca, Vivian and Randy Brubaker. They represent the fifth generation who have lived on the homestead of Mrs. Brubaker's grandfather, John Fleming, who came to Grant township from Pennsylvania in the 1850's. Mrs. Brubaker and her deceased husband both became members of Amity United Presbyterian church in 1915 and continued their memberships until death. Their children were all baptized there. Besides her husband, Mrs. Brubaker was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

The funeral services arc to be held in Amity church at 2 o'clock this Friday afternoon, to be conducted by the Rev. Glen Owens, pastor. Mrs. Marilyn Christy will sing, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. O. L . Devick. Casket bearers will be William Neidick, John Weiler, Floyd Dinsdale, Clark Fleming, Lester and Logan Fleming. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dinsdale and Mr. and Mrs. George Addison will be in charge of flowers. Burial will be in Grant, township cemetery.
